We will not save your answers unless you hit submit. For the short answer questions, we highly recommend you stay around the word count.

Please also make sure you meet our eligibility requirements:
- You are a US citizen.
- You are a current high school student (9-12th grade).
- You have a high school transcript available.

This year at HSF, our 1st place award is $2000, 2nd place is $1000, and 3rd place is $500. Finalists, semi-finalists, and honorable mentions will be named and honored but no financial award will be given.

Please choose two of the six following prompts to answer. All prompts are given equal weight.
‍1. Locked in a room, you can either chip away at the walls slowly, and it will take weeks, but you have plenty of food to stay alive. Or, you can press an exit button and leave in thirty seconds, but with a 37% survival rate. What is your choice and why?

2. If you could talk to anyone, past or present, who would you talk to and why?

3. Someone offers to tell you about your future self 20 years from now, but you would be unable to change what they told you. Would you want to hear them and why?

4. If you had a chance to go back and change an event in your life, would you and what would you do differently?

5. What is your take on the journey of life and eventual death? Are you religious? Nihilistic? Or perhaps unmoved?

6. If you were given the opportunity to either be the wealthiest yet least fulfilled person in the world, or the poorest yet most fulfilled, which option would you choose (if any) and why?
